Fifty, a feature film by EbonyLife Films which delves into the trials and triumphs of women, is set to premiere at this year’s London International Film Festival come October 17. The producers have said it will also have a special grand Nigerian premiere on December 13 at The Eko Hotels & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Directed by Biyi Bandele and has Mo Abudu as the executive producer, Fifty captures a few pivotal days in the lives of four Nigerian women at the pinnacle of their careers. The four are played by Ireti Doyle (Tola), Nse Ikpe-Etim (Kate), Dakore Egbuson-Akande (Elizabeth) and Omoni Oboli (Maria).

Hot off its selection for the 2015 BFI London Film Festival, EbonyLife Films has released the official trailer for its highly acclaimed feature film, Fifty. The four actresses are forced at midlife to take inventory of their personal lives, while juggling careers and family against the sprawling backdrops of the upper middle-class neighbourhoods of Lagos.
The British Film Institute (BFI) unveiled the programme for the 2015 London Film Festival with Festival Director, Clare Stewart, naming Fifty among this year’s rich and diverse selection of films and events. Shortlisted under the Love Category, Fifty is one of 238 fiction and documentary features, including 16 world premieres, eight international premieres and 40 European premieres.
Amanda Nevill, Chief Executive Officer of BFI, during her opening remarks, declared this year’s festival theme as ‘The Year of the Strong Woman’; a fitting theme for Fifty, a riveting exploration of love and lust, power and rivalry, seduction and infidelity.
Mo Abudu, Biyi Bandele, and one of the movie’s lead cast members, Nse Ikpe-Etim, were all present at BFI’s announcement.
