The fifth edition of Lights, Camera, Africa!!! Film Festival has made a call for entries in the official selection. Holding from September 30 to October 4, this year’s theme is ‘Future Forward’.
According to the organisers, the call is for bold and energetic pieces of African and independent cinema that portray the intrepid spirit that characterises the force that propels us, feeds the imperative to go forth with certainty and to succeed.
“This spirit is illustrated on the continent through constant movement in various fields of endeavour. This movement is marked by a purposeful quest for achieving a higher self. It is illustrated by a country that has elected a new political dispensation,” the statement said.
Excited and hopeful for the future, the statement said that this year also marks a turning point for the Lights, Camera, Africa!!! Film Festival as it gathers stories from its own journey over the last few years and projects into another phase in its growth.
“We consider Future Forward a metaphor for the festival…We also celebrate our alliances with scholars, directors and personalities like Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, Tunde Kelani, Toni Kan, Ed Keazor, Chika Anadu, Sandra Krampelhuber, Ebele Okoye, Shaibu Husseini, O.C Ukeje, and Jahman Anikulapo,” said the statement.
“We are also excited about the possibilities for cultural exchange from our friendships with the Dutch, German, French and Italian diplomatic missions, long-time enablers of independent African cinema.”
