FIFA names officials for Nigeria, Mozambique friendly

FIFA appointed four Portuguese as referee, assistant referee 1, assistant referee 2 and fourth official

The Body in charge of international football, FIFA, has named the match officials for Super Eagle’s second friendly match against Mozambique on Monday, October 16.

According to FIFA, Miguel Nogueira from Portugal will serve as the centre referee for the encounter.  

He is expected to be assisted by his compatriots Paulo Bras, Ana Loide and Bruno Viera, who will serve as assistant referee 1, assistant referee 2 and fourth official, respectively.

The friendly encounter which will be played at the Estadio Municipal de Portimão in Portugal will be the fifth time both countries are facing each other at the senior level.

It will also be the second international friendly, Nigeria will be playing during the October international break. 

The match kicks off at 4:00 pm Portugal time (same time as in Nigeria).

Prior to the upcoming match, the Super Eagles played out a 2-2 draw with Saudi Arabia last Friday in their first friendly game.

The match which was played at the same Estadio Municipal de Portimao, Portugal on Friday night, was part of the Super Eagles’ build up to the African Cup of Nations billed for Cote d’Ivoire in January 2024. 

Nigeria equalised through an own goal, and Kelechi Iheanacho, put them ahead in the second half before the Saudis leveled up deep in injury time to tie up the game.
