Motorists plying the Suleja-Minna road will soon heave a sigh of relief as the Federal Government has made budgetary provision of N2.8 billion in the current fiscal year for the completion of the dualisation of the stalled road project.
Senator David Umaru, representing Niger-East Senatorial District at the National Assembly disclosed this in Minna.
He also added that the said amount was captured in the 2017 budget appropriation which had been passed by the Senate.
Umaru however expressed optimism that work on the project would be completed this year because the National Assembly was aware of the difficulties motorists and other road users are exposed to due to the poor condition of the road and the delays in its completion over the years.
Senator Umaru also applauded the federal government for including the Suleja-Minna road project among the capital projects to be executed in the current fiscal year, adding that the completion of the project was imperative considering the crucial importance of the road.
Work on the dualisation of the Suleja -Minna road was first awarded in 2010 by the Goodluck Jonathan led government to a multi-national construction company, Salini Nigeria Limited, and was to have been completed within three years.
