The Federal Government has debunked reports that it has proposed N105,000 as the new national minimum wage to organized labour.

This was disclosed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga via his X account (formerly Twitter).

Some online platforms had earlier reported that the Minister of Finance, Wake Edun presented a proposal of N105,000 to President Bola Tinubu.

The media outlets said Edun, along with the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Atiku Bagudu, presented President Tinubu with the cost implications of the new minimum wage in his office at the presidential villa in Abuja.

However, refuting the claims, the FG through the presidential aide said, “The Honorable Minister of Finance and coordinating minister of the economy, Wale Edun has not proposed N105,000 minimum wage. The contrary story being disseminated is false.”

Recall that the Tripartite Committee meeting on the new national minimum wage was stalled on Wednesday due to the failure of the FG to present a new figure to the organized labour after the initial N60,000 offer was rejected by labour.
