Manchester United legend and pundit, Rio Ferdinand, has claimed English midfielder, Jude Bellingham rejected a move to his old club, because the Red Devils couldn’t guarantee him a first-team place.

He made this known during the latest episode of Vibe with Five, where he asserted that the player as far back as 2020 knew his worth.

Man United attempted to bring Bellingham to Old Trafford in 2020 and went as far as inviting former manager Sir Alex Ferguson to speak to the player and his family during a tour of the club’s training ground.

However, the Three Lions player, who was playing for Birmingham City at the time, opted to join German side, Borussia Dortmund in a £22.75million deal.

This summer, the England international moved to La Liga club, Real Madrid for an initial £88.5m.

Ferdinand speaking during a recent chat explained why the English star snubbed a move to the Manchester giant and decided to ply his trade in the Bundesliga.

Ferdinand said: “Do you know what I heard it was… he [Bellingham] wanted some assurances about being a first-team player.

“And United weren’t willing to give him those assurances; that’s what I heard from a very good source.

“He wasn’t given assurances of being around the first team and he’s said, ‘do you know what, I know my worth, I know my value and if you don’t value me the way I see myself, I’m going to have to jog on and go to another club,”
