Federal High Court of Nigeria marks golden jubilee (50) years anniversary

Activities marking the 50th Anniversary for the establishment of the Federal High Court of Nigeria begins on Monday December 11, 2023.

The Federal High Court of Nigeria which hitherto was Federal Revenue Court was established in 1973 and renamed Federal High Court of Nigeria with added jurisdictions in October 1979.

In order to mark the golden jubilee of the court, the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court of Nigeria Hon. Justice John Terhemba Tsoho has approved the activities lined up for a week long celebrations.

The celebration kicks off on Monday 11th December 2023 with a devotional worships simultaneously at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Maitama Abuja, FCT and the National Mosque, Abuja, FCT.
The devotional worships will be followed later in the day with a Special Legal Year Court Session.

On Tuesday December 12, the Chief Judge with his brother Judges of Abuja Judicial Division will visit Kuje Correctional Centre, to be followed later in the day with a Novelty match between selected FHC Judges versus members of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) at the National Stadium, Abuja.

On Wednesday 13th December will be opening of Judges annual conference and anniversary lecture to be chaired by the Hon. Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Olukayode Ariwoola. This event will be followed by presentation of publications of High Court by the Hon. Chief Judge, Justice John T Tsoho.

The judges’ annual conference continues on Thursday and later in the evening, there will be Gala/Cultural night. The celebration will be rounded up on Friday 15th with Health Talk for Honourable Judges, the Chief Judge Merit Award ceremony and closure of the annual conference.
