Fayose argued that former Rivers State governor, Wike, can only set fire in states where the governors are not in total control

Former Ekiti State governor, Ayo Fayose, has said the much desired reconciliation between the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara, will never happen.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain made this known while featuring on Channels Television’s programme, ‘Sunday Politics’.
According to him, the rift between the two political heavyweights has gone too far for a reconciliation to take place.
Fayose, who is a friend and political ally of Wike, went on to add that there is already a breach of trust between the duo.
Wike and Fubara, who succeeded him as Rivers Governor, have been at loggerheads since the latter assumed office in 2023.
In a recent interview, the FCT Minister said the restoration of peace in Rivers State is up to Fubara.

However, while speaking during the Channels’ TV interview, Fayose said, “This crisis is unfortunate, very, very unfortunate.
”I believe that the matter has crossed the Rubicon.
“It has gone far. Breach of trust even if you want to resolve this matter, where do you put the trust part? I rather want to believe that it is too far in the day to call for reconciliation.”
While addressing threat by the FCT minister to set fire in states of governors who meddle in the Rivers State political crisis, Fayose insisted that Wike can only do such in states where the governors are not in total control.
He said, “As a sitting governor, when I was governor of Ekiti State, I had nothing to hide.
”If a governor or former governor says he will put fire in my state, it is either I am not strong at home or I have lost control in my state, then I have a lot to fear. I speak my mind and I don’t hide it.
“You can tell my position. The moment you have a grip of your state, you have nothing to fear. But the moment you don’t have a grip of your state, obviously you have a lot in your hand to face.”
