Fayose admits to lobbying Tinubu to ensure Wike remains relevant

Former Ekiti Governor Ayo Fayose says President Bola Tinubu should show appreciation to the G5 or Integrity Group in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the role they played in his election in February – which is still being litigated.
G5 arrowhead former Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike has what it takes to be a Minister and “must serve” in the Tinubu administration, Fayose advocated on Channels Television on Sunday, per reporting by Daily Post.
Fayose last week visited Tinubu at the Villa in Abuja and afterward told journalists he would to tackle the President if he derails from his promises to Nigerians.
Other members of the G5 are former Governors Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), Samuel Ortom (Benue), and serving Governor Seyi Makinde (Oyo).
On Wike making into the Tinubu cabinet, Fayose said on Channels Television: “What is wrong with that? How is anybody affected by that? I don’t want to be a Minister but if Asiwaju [Tinubu] says ‘Fayose, you will be Minister’ and I agree, what is their headache?
“I want Wike to be in the cabinet. Wike has what it takes to serve Nigeria. Wike is an articulate, capable person. If Asiwaju finds him or any of the G5 worthy, please serve in Asiwaju’s government.”

I never knew Tinubu would become President, Fayose says
“I have never hidden in my position on Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. Let me remind you very quickly.
“I never knew Asiwaju would be President of Nigeria and there was no time in 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018 that I [did] not celebrate his birthday on the pages of newspapers as the then-Governor of Ekiti State,” Fayose added, per Daily Post.
“One of the messages I passed across at that time was that party politics notwithstanding, he will remain our leader in the [South] West for long.
“I never knew he would be President of Nigeria. I counted the costs before I took those actions. If Tinubu is not an example to identify with, somebody like me would not identify with him.”
