Former chairman of the House of Representatives ad-hoc committee on Petroleum Subsidy, Farouk Lawan, will spend seven years in prison for taking bribe from Diesel merchant, Femi Otedola.
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, said Lawan is guilty of corruptly asking for and obtaining a bribe from Femi Otedola in order to exonerate Zenon Petroleum and Gas Limited from the list of companies in the fuel subsidy scam.
The court found him guilty on four of the counts.
The court also ordered that Lawan returns the sum of $500,000 to the Federal Government.
