Fani-Kayode also said those saying Lagos is a ‘no man’s land’ are intellectually challenged and misinformed

All Progressives Party (APC) chieftain and former Aviation minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has claimed that those positing that Lagos was founded by Binis are spreading falsehood.
It all started when the Oba of Benin, Ewuare II, who was on a courtesy visit to the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, sparked a debate on social media after he claimed Lagos was founded by the Binis.
According to the highly revered monarch, many history books backed his assertion that the Centre of Excellence was founded by his people.
He said: ‘’It is in the history books that the Binis founded Lagos. When some people will hear it now, they will go haywire, what is the Oba saying there again? But it is true.”

Reacting to the claim, Fani-Kayode took to his X page to debunk the claim, insisting Lagos was founded by the Yoruba tribe.
He went on to say those that are saying Lagos is a ‘no man’s land’ are “intellectually challenged and hopelessly misinformed”
Speaking via his official social media page, the former minister said: “Those that claim that the Bini founded Lagos are indulging in historical revisionism and pure falsehood.
“The Bini did NOT found Lagos, the Yoruba did.
“Again those that claim that Lagos is a ‘no man’s land’ are intellectually challenged and hopelessly misinformed.
“Lagos is NOT a ‘no man’s land’, she is Yoruba.
“All the self-serving and revisionist poppycock, Gobellian propaganda, historical abracadabra, nonsensical gobbledegook and disingenuous disinformation being peddled around by aliens, outsiders and non-indigenes about the origin of Lagos, her people and her history must cease forthwith lest the younger generation are misinformed and misled and the people of Lagos are robbed of their true history and identity.
“I am glad to see that the Balogun of Eko, Abisoye Oshodi, has risen to the occasion and sought to set the record straight. Kudos to him!
“I say it again, Lagos was FOUNDED by the Yoruba and she IS Yoruba! Facts are sacred and opinion is cheap!”
