Popular Nigerian rapper, actor and human rights activist, Folarin Falana, better known as Falz, has taken to social media to defend Super Eagles star, Alex Iwobi.

TheNiche had earlier reported that Iwobi endured heavy criticism from Nigerians online following his alleged poor showing at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nation’s final on Sunday.

Reacting to the backlash, the Fulham star deleted all the pictures he put up on his official Instagram page after the AFCON final.

Rising in defence of the midfielder, Falz stated that every single player that puts on green and white jersey at the AFCON made a sacrifice and does not deserve to be treated badly.

Sharing Iwobi’s picture on his Instagram page on Monday evening, the singer kicked against cyber-bullying, while expressing his love for the player.

Falz wrote; “We win together, we lose together. Every single player that puts on the green white green to represent us, is making an immense sacrifice and does not deserve to be treated with this much disdain.

“We speak a lot about cyber-bullying but we are so quick to turn against our own. @alexanderiwobi Love you bro! Thank you.”

Meanwhile, popular stand-up comedian, Ayo Makun, aka AY, has appealed to Nigerians to stop cyber bullying Iwobi.

Speaking on his Instagram page, the comic actor urged fans of Super Eagles to halt the criticism of the former Arsenal star, saying his only crime was representing his fatherland.

He wrote: “Anyone can become a victim of cyberbullying. Malicious information posted on the internet can spread far and wide at an instant, and it is always difficult to be deleted completely. The immediacy of the spread makes it hard for victims to defend themselves or take precautions. The harm caused by cyberbullying is always ignored by computer or mobile phone users.

“It is so sad to see how you all have exhibited various forms of cyberbullying on a young man whose only crime was to come and represent his father land. Tomorrow, you all will still be wondering why the likes of Saka and others are never going to play for Nigeria?

“It’s time to think beyond your personal interests and look at the negative effects of your evil actions.

“Let’s help promote a culture of care and respect on the internet and prevent cyberbullying.”
