The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) wants to continue to play a leading role in advocating collaboration among aviation partners to solve problems in air transport on the African continent.
FAAN Managing Director, Sale Dunoma, stated this at the 53rd Airports Council International (ACI) Africa board meeting and regional conference and exhibition in Casablanca, Morocco.
He said the introduction of the aviation portal, toll free call centres, and the liberalisation of the aviation sector have raised awareness and growth in the sector.
“Nigerian airports are playing important international roles in linking the most populous country on the African continent to the rest of the world, and the containment of the Ebola virus remains a shining example of a successful collaboration,” he added.
The conference, which had the theme, “Collaboration for Safe, Secure and Sustainable Aviation in Africa”, addressed improvements in aviation safety and security in the light of new threats.
Angela Gittens, ACI Worldwide Director General, dwelled on the benefits of collaboration in the industry from the perspective of airports.
Pascal Komla, ACI Africa President, said the event provided a unique opportunity for aviation executives, experts, and exhibitors from across the globe to network, share information, and forge a common vision for the future businesses of African airports.
