F.A.M.E show berths

An initiative tagged Fashion Art Music Entertainment (F.A.M.E) has berthed with the aim to foster growth and development in the flourishing Nigerian entertainment industry.

Bukkie Smart

Bukola Smart, otherwise known as Bukiie or Bukiiebee, the brain behind the project and founder of FAME Productions, said in Lagos on Tuesday that it’s to discover, nurture and harness new talents in these two spheres of entertainment, thereby showcasing the abundant talents and human resources in the country.

The student of the UK-based University of Reading, where she is studying Accounting and Finance, said via Skype from her base that F.A.M.E is not just a concert, as it also out to discover talents.

Bukiie, whose mother, Mrs. Tonia Smart, the project’s coordinator, was at the briefing in Lagos to support her daughter, said the applications will be in two categories – fashion and music – and will open on July 14.

Interested applicants will get more details at F.A.M.E website. All applications will be thoroughly scrutinised and successful applicants will be shortlisted for training/audition, which will be the utmost pre-condition for qualification into the finals of the event.

Also, the judges will strictly base their decision on five clear-cut indices per category. For fashion, it will be: originality, creativity, modelling skills, style and modernisation; while music will be: lyrics, beat, originality, audibility and delivery.

Assistant General Manger (AGM) Corporate Communications and Branding of Sovereign Trust Insurance (STI) – sponsors of the project, Segun Bankole, said the company is part of the event because it is in tandem with its corporate values of innovation, integrity, professionalism and team spirit.

“Bukkie Smart represents an innovative youth and we are proud to be associated with her,” he stated.

Bukiie is a lover of all things style. This barely-18 Bukiie comes from the Smart family comprising her parents and two supportive elder and younger brothers. Fashion designing was her first love. She loved how using a few fabrics put together nicely could turn one from looking “nice” to looking “classy” or “sophisticated” instantly.

Dressing up was always a favourite thing to do growing up and what better way to “feel yourself” than to have your own private runway show with music! This hidden dream was stored away but never forgotten, as she became more connected with her “business” side.

But after a few months into her first year, Bukiie decided to reignite the fire of her dreams into the fashion world. As an aspiring philanthropist and entrepreneur, she looked for a way to match both her dream and feeding the needs of the society.

Thus, F.A.M.E was planted into her young mind in December 2013 and she nurtured it till it was birthed in April 2014. A big dreamer and a lady of great ambition, she hopes, also, to someday become a fashion stylist/consultant and start her line of clothes taking inspiration from style crushes.
