A former Minister of Education and a presidential aspirant in the 2019 election, Dr Oby Ezekwesili, has called for an independent medical evaluation of President Muhammadu Buhari’s mental and physical capaicuty to govern Nigeria.

Ezekwesili’s demand came after 317 students of the Government Science Secondary School, Jangebe, in Talata Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State were abducted by bandits terrosing some parts of the north.

The spate of schoolchildren abduction has intensified lately, with the government appearing helpless over the issue,  but hyperactive in clampingdown on Nigerians  who criticize its poor handling of the security situation.

The Special Adviser to the Kano State governor on media, Salisu Tanko Yakasai, popularly known by his Twitter handle @dawisu, was arrested by the State Security Service (SSS) and sacked  by the governor of Kano State, Abdullah Ganduje, for tweeting that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has failed in the area of security.

For Ezekwesili, the happenings in the country bear the signs of a country that is leaderless.

She said via her Twitter handle: “My DEMAND goes beyond asking @NigeriaGov of @MBuhari to #BringBackJangebeGirls. My DEMAND goes beyond asking Justice of Rescue for our schoolgirls. My DEMAND is to commence the process for an Independent Medical Evaluation of @MBuhari ‘s Physical and Mental Capacity to govern.”
