Examination: Albino Foundation seeks for time concession for members

The State Coordinator of Albino Foundation in Osun, Mr Nofiu Adewale, has appealed for extra time for its members during National Examinations in view of their impaired vision.

Adewale made the appeal during an interactive session with the media on Wednesday in Osogbo, where he spoke on the forth coming World Albinism Day.

He said the impaired vision of the Albinos was an obstacle to their educational advancement and progress hence, the need for examination bodies to give such a concession.

According to him, many of the ambitious young people living with Albinism have been deprived of getting qualitative education due to their poor vision.

‘’We are strongly concerned about the conditions of our people in the course of their quest to get qualitative education, and the greatest challenge of inability to see clearly, which normally cause delay.

‘’It is on this note that we enjoin examination bodies that are saddled with the responsibility of conducting National Examinations to give extra time to Albinos during examinations.

‘’We specifically want bodies like West Africa Examination Council(WAEC) and National Examinations Council(NECO) to emulate what the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has done.

‘’JAMB over time has been very cooperative by giving any of our people that sits for UTME the opportunity of using extra time, this we want others to do,’’ he said.

Adewale, however, called on government at all levels to come to the aid of Albinos and help them to achieve their goals, and potentials.(NAN)
