Ex-world fastest runner, Tori Bowie, dies at 32

Former Olympic medallist and world champion, Tori Bowie, has died at the age of 32.
The American once held the title as the fastest woman in the world and claimed three gold medals on the global stage.
Tributes are pouring in after the sprinter was found dead at her home in Florida but no cause of death has yet been revealed.
Her passing was confirmed on Wednesday by her representatives Icon Management in a statement released on social media.
‘We’re devastated to share the very sad news that Tori Bowie has passed away,’ they stated. ‘We’ve lost a client, dear friend, daughter and sister.
‘Tori was a champion a beacon of light that shined so bright! We’re truly heartbroken and our prayers are with the family and friends.’
Bowie competed in the 100m and 200m categories and also involved in the long jump. She was part of the US team that won gold in the 4x100m at the Rio Olympics.
At that same Games, the Mississippi native also secured a silver in the 100m and a bronze in the 200m.
Her crowning achievement was a pair of golds at the World Championships in 2017; coming away from the London event with the 100m prize as well as another 4x100m gold.
In recent years, Bowie moved back to the long jump having previously left it behind for sprinting in 2014. She did not attempt to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics, but claimed fourth in the long jump at the 2019 World Championships.
Tributes have been flooding in for the athletics star, with World Athletics stating: ‘World Athletics is deeply saddened by the passing of Tori Bowie, the 2017 world 100m champion and multiple Olympic medallist.

Sprinting superstar Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce said: ‘My heart breaks for the family of Tori Bowie. A great competitor and source of light. Your energy and smile will always be with me. Rest in peace.
