Ex-Former Federal lawmaker, Mohammed Idris, who slumped and died after Eid Prayer, buried in Abuja

The mortal remains of the former member of the House of Representatives from Kogi State, Hon. Mohammed Idris, who slumped and died today after the Eid-el-Fitr prayer in Abuja, has been committed to mother earth.

He was buried according to Islamic rites at the Gudu Cemetery at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) after a funeral prayer attended by a crowd of mourners at the National Mosque in Abuja.

The ex-lawmaker, who was the son of a former Governor of Kogi State, Ibrahim Idris (Ibro), slumped and died in his residence shortly after returning from Eid Prayer on Wednesday.

Mohammed, formerly represented Ankpa, Olamaboro and Omala Federal Constituency of Kogi State in the House of Representatives when his father was the state governor.

Hon Idris is the second prominent Nigerian to have slumped today and died after the Eid Prayer.

TheNiche had earlier reported that a prominent Lagos monarch, Osolo of Isolo, Oba Kabiru Agbabiaka, also died today after successfully participating in the Eid Prayer.

He was aged 64.

Chairman of the Isolo Local Council Development Area, Olasoju Adebayo, disclosed his sad death in a statement today.

The statement read: “I have the instruction of the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to formally announce the passing of the paramount ruler of Isolo Kingdom, Oba Kabiru Agbabiaka, Adeola Olushi III, today April 10, 2024. He was 64.

“He will be buried today by 4pm at his palace, 3/5 Akinbaye Street, Isolo, according to Islamic rites. May his soul rest in peace.”

Olasoju, however, did not disclose the cause of the monarch’s death.

But like Hon Idris, the King has also been burial in accordance with Islamic customs.
