Ex-Education Minister, Kenneth Gbagi dies at 62

Gbagi was the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the 2023 Delta State gubernatorial election

A former Nigerian Minister of Education and industrialist, Kenneth Gbagi has passed on. 

TheNiche learnt the ex-governorship candidate in Delta State died on Saturday, May 4 at the age of 62.

His demise was confirmed in a statement released by the family and signed by his eldest son, Emuoboh Gbagi.

It read: It is with profound sadness but gratitude to God that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, husband, and brother.

“Orogun Kenneth Omemavwa Gbagi, former Minister of Education, departed this life on May 4 2024, at 62.

“We take comfort in the fond memories of his life, achievements, and the impact he made on countless individuals and communities.

“We kindly request your thoughts and prayers for our family during this challenging time of loss. May his soul rest in perfect peace.”

Gbagi was the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party ( SDP) in the 2023 Delta State gubernatorial poll.

He lost the election to the incumbent governor and candidate of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP.),  Sheriff Oborevwori.
