The Toffees had two goals ruled offside in both halves but came from a goal behind to beat visiting Arsenal 2-1 at Goodison Park.

The visitor opened the scoring in the 47th minute after Martin Odegaard scored from an assist from Karen Tierney to give Arsenal 1-0 the lead.

Everton had a goal disallowed shortly before the Arsenal goal, another one was narrowly ruled offside by VAR in the 58th minute.

They finally got the breakthrough in the 79th minute when Richarlison headed home a rebound after Demarai Gray’s shot hit the crossbar.

Arsenal had a couple of opportunities to retake the lead after Evertons’ equaliser, but heroic defending from the home side kept honours even.

Eddie Nketiah had a glorious chance to score after Bukayo Saka’s well-timed cross found him unmarked but he could only hit the bar with his effort.

Everton made Arsenal pay for the misses when Demarai Gray scored a stunner in the 92nd minute to put the home side 2-1 ahead.

The Toffees held on to win their first game in nine Premier League matches, while Arsenal missed the opportunity to go ahead of Spurs and United into the 5th spot.
