Etsu Nupe advocates stoppage of ‘crazy’ billings by service providers

The Estu Nupe and chairman, Niger State Council of Traditional Rullers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, has blamed the constant frictions between customers and electricity providers in the country to ‘Crazy Billings’ and therefore wants service providsers to stop the trend.

“Without customers, service providers will be out of business and because both parties needed each others there must be a harmonious working relationship that will guarantee satisfaction for both providers and customers,” the traditional ruler pointed out.

Etsu Nupe made the appeal while exchanging views with a delegation of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) that paid him a courtesy visit in his palace.

He advised the company to guarantee uninterrupted supply, stressing, “this  will encourage customers to pay bills.

“When we are expecting light and we don’t see light yet the bills kept coming and even getting higher then there is bound to be trouble. You cannot force customers to continue paying for services you did not provide”.

The monarch who however pleaded with Nigerlites to always protect equipment in their domain,  reminded them of the need to be ‘patient with the electricity companies because the rot in the sector will take time to be rectified’.

Alhaji Ahmed Satti Maiyaki, who led the delegation on behalf of the chairman of the board of the AEDC, Alhaji Shehu Malami, had commended the Etsu Nupe for his fatherly role which doused the tension generated as a result of poor electricity supply.

The AEDC delegation later donated assorted drugs to the Emir’s palace clinic as part of its social responsibilities to customers.
