President of the Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT) and former Barcelona striker, Samuel Eto’o, has aimed a dig at Arsenal legend, Thierry Henry, claiming he was not at his level during their playing career.

Henry is widely regarded as one of the greatest players in English Premier League (EPL) history.

The former France international netted 228 goals in 376 games for Arsenal, winning two EPL titles and two FA Cups with the North London club.

He later left the North London club to join La Liga giant, Barcelona in 2007, where he linked up with Eto’o.

At the time, the Cameroon legend and current head of his country’s FA was one of the biggest stars at Nou Camp.

The duo won a historic treble during  the 2008-2009 season under the current Manchester City’s boss, Pep Guardiola, with Eto’o departing  Barca for Inter Milan that summer.

However, according to French publication Foot Mercato, Eto’o has now said he was a better player than Henry and that the Frenchman never reached his level while playing.

He went on to claim the 40-year-old striker was not as impressive as his former French teammate,  Nicholas Anelka.

Eto’o said, “I think he was not at the level of Nicolas Anelka. Thierry Henry was good, but I knew players… I preferred other players.

“In any case, he was not at my level. The luck or the bad luck that I had wasn’t to play for France.

“Those who played in France had plus 70 per cent. It is not because they were strong, but because France sells them better.

“They sold them to us and brought them up to our level…”

Meanwhile, Henry has so far kept mum despite Eto’o’s claims.
