ES Setif have won the 2016/2017 Algeria Premier League with two games to spare, for their eight title overall.
“Les Aigles Noirs” wrapped up the title after 3-0 away win over bottom-placed MO Bejaia on Wednesday, June 7 in Bejaia.
The win took Setif’s tally to 54 points, seven more than second place MC Alger, who succumbed to a 3-2 loss at struggling RC Relizane. USM Alger are also seven points shy despite a 6-2 thrashing of USM Bel Abbes also on Wednesday.
The outcome of the two matches will mean nothing as far as the summit is concerned, giving Setif the key to their first title in two years.
“Les Aigles Noirs” are expected to be crowned in their penultimate match of the season against USM Alger on Saturday, June 10 at their favourite grounds, 8 May 1945 Stadium in Setif.
