Reports from England suggest that Manchester United have spoken with ex-Barcelona boss, Ernesto Valverde, on his availability as a coach on an interim basis.
The 57-year-old last managed in 2020, when he won two La Liga titles and a Copa del Rey with Barcelona, before he was given the boot.
According to BBC sports, Ernesto Valverde is being considered as one of the potential candidates to take charge, until United hire a manager permanently.

They feel signing an interim manager to work alongside caretaker manager, Micheal Carrick, is more pragmatic than pursuing an interest in the likes of Paris St-Germain (PSG) coach, Mauricio Pochettino, who has suggested he is not available.
Pochettino made it known on Tuesday, that he was “so happy” at his current club and that he will not be distracted by links to United
Another United target, Ajax coach, Erik Ten Hag, has also made it known in the past, that he will not be leaving the club in the middle of the season.
Therefore, Valverde fits into the plan on an interim basis, given his experience and the silverware he won during his managerial career.
In addition to the two titles he won in Barcelona, he also won the Greek title on three occasions with Olympiakos and had successful spells in charge with La Liga outfits, Espanyol, Valencia, and Athletico Bilbao.
Earnest Valverde has no coaching experience in the English Premier League, but he is likely to cope because of his vast experience and ability to speak the English language fluently.
