Former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama has been named the greatest African goalkeeper of all time by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS).
The ranking was done for all the continents including Europe, South America and Asia, with IFFHS focusing on goalkeepers who plied their trades between 1987 to 2022.
Italy’s 2006 World Cup winner Gianluigi Buffon was named the greatest goalkeeper from Europe.

Jose Luis Chilavert was picked as South America’s greatest, while Mohamed Abdullaziz Al-Deayea of Saudi Arabia was selected for Asia.
Ex-Real Madrid and Costa Rica shot stopper Keylor Navas also got the nod in CONCACAF and former Manchester United goalie, Mark Bosnich was picked for Oceania.
In the African continent, Enyeama was picked for his outstanding performances for club and country during a career that spanned over a decade.
His selection puts him ahead of other legendary goalkeepers from the continent, including Joseph-Antoine Bell, Thomas N’Kono, and Essam El-Hadary.
The shot stopper made a big impact when Enyimba won the CAF Champions League title in 2003 and 2004.
Enyeama also represented Nigeria at three FIFA World Cups in Korea/Japan 2002, South Africa 2010 and Brazil 2014.
He was also in goal when the Super Eagles won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.
