Liverpool legend, Jose Enrique, has taken a swipe at Manchester City midfielder, Bernardo Silva after slamming the centre referee after his side suffered a 1-0 loss to the Reds at Anfield on Sunday.

Man City lost the keenly contested Premier League game, thanks to Mohamed Salah’s second-half goal in the 75th minute, after Phil Foden’s effort had been disallowed earlier in the tie.

The defeat left Pep Guardiola’s men in the second position on the league table, however, they are now four points adrift of league leaders, Arsenal, who have now won 9 games out of 10 this season.

The Citizens also have the same point as another North London club, Tottenham Hotspurs who are in third, both teams having 24 points each.

After the encounter, a visibly irked Bernardo Silva, speaking to Sky Sports about Foden’s disallowed goal during his post-match interview, blamed the official for not being consistent.

The Portuguese said: “What we expect from the referees is consistency in the decisions. When you go through a path of not whistling little contacts throughout the whole game, you need to keep those decisions and keep going that way. If you want to whistle all of them, whistle all of them.”

Reacting to Silva’s statement via his Twitter handle, former Liverpool defender, Luis Enrique, described him as a sore loser.

The ex-Spanish international also described the Portuguese star as an ‘idiot’, adding that he doesn’t know how to handle a loss.

He tweeted, “Bernardo Silva is one of the most idiots players in the game, seriously. He doesn’t know how to lose.”
