Enes Unai scores in Real Madrid’s 1-0 shock defeat at Getafe

Enes Unai scored the only goal at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez, as Getafe beat league leaders, Real Madrid 1-0

League leaders, Real Madrid missed the chance to open up an 11-point lead but stayed eight points clear at top of La Liga despite a shocking 1-0 loss to Getafe at Coliseum Alfonso Perez. 

Enes Unal scored the only goal of the match in the 9th minute after dispossessing Eder Militao of the ball inside Real Madrid’s penalty area.

Real Madrid nearly got an equaliser when Croatian midfielder Luka Modric’s effort struck the woodwork after releasing a powerful drive.

The visitors continued to dominate the first half but only forced a save from Getafe goalkeeper David Soria, who tipped another Modric’s long-range drive past the far post.

The league leaders continued to trouble Getafe as German midfielder Toni Kroos missed another opportunity to level the score as he fired wide from a promising position.

Real Madrid up the tempo in the second half and went close to salvaging a point through Casemiro, but the midfielder’s effort was well palmed away to safety by Soria

The lone goal from Enes Unai, inspired relegation threatened Getafe to move three points clear of the drop zone, putting a little gap between them and Elche in 17th position.
