Buhari

After much pressure from home and abroad and following the chaos in the country in the wake of the #EndSARS agitations by Nigerian youths, President Muhammadu Buhari has finally agreed to address the nation.

The president has been severely criticised by those who insist that he should use the bully pulpit of the presidency to calm frayed nerves in a country that is burning, literally.

Up till now, Buhari has refused to hearken to the advice.

But a statement this evening by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, said the president will address Nigerians at 7pm.

The statement reads:

“Following detailed briefing by security chiefs on the current situation in the country, President Muhammadu Buhari will make a national broadcast Thursday, October 22, 2020 at 7pm.

“Television, radio and other electronic media outlets are enjoined to hook up to the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and Radio Nigeria respectively for the broadcast.”
