The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, did not attend a meeting President Muhammadu Buhari held with top Kano political, business and traditional leaders in Aso Rock.
Governor Abdullahi Ganduje led the delegation of Kano leaders to meet the president, special assistant on social media to President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad, disclosed via his twitter handle.
Emir Sanusi was not present at the meeting. No reason was given for his absence given the important office he occupies in the state. Rather, the Emir of Bichi, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, who is one of the four Kano First Class Emirs that Governor Ganduje appointed, led the team of Kano Emirs.
The absence of Emir Sanusi at the Kano stakeholders meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari, may mean that the rift between him and Ganduje is far from over.
Ganduje had created four emirates from Emir Sanusi’s domain. It is believed that he created the four Emirates to spite Emir Sanusi who has been his critic and whittle his influence in the State. S
