The newly elected chairman of Eleme LG, Brain Gokpa, on his arrival at the secretariat discovered that some buildings were on fire

Arsonists have allegedly set a section of the Eleme Local Government Area secretariat in Rivers State ablaze.
The development was confirmed by former Ambassador, Oji Ngofa, during a telephone conversation with Channels TV.
According to him, the newly elected chairman of Eleme LG, Brain Gokpa, arrived at the secretariat in company of his councillors and supporters, only to discover that some buildings in the complex had been set ablaze.
The event has sparked apprehension, especially as this incident may signify brewing political tensions.

So far, no arrests have been made and the Rivers State Police Command is yet to release any statement on the situation.
Meanwhile, TheNiche gathered that unknown persons also barricaded the entrance to the Emohua local government secretariat.
In a video that surfaced on social media, those involved were heard chanting “No Wike, No Rivers State!!” as they tried to prevent the resumption of the newly elected local government Chairman, David Omereju.
