Obiano, who gave the charge in a statement in Awka on Friday, gave an assurance that the Saturday and April 11 elections would be violence-free, fair and transparent.

“We all have a duty to vote for the candidates of our choice; but when we stand in line to cast our votes, we lend a hand to efforts to preserve our democratic culture.”

The governor also warned those planning to foment trouble during the exercise to desist from such or face the wrath of the law.

“We have the resolve and capacity to deal decisively with anyone who wants to breach the peaceful atmosphere we enjoy in the state,’’ Obiano said.
