The Director, Media, Buhari Support Organisations (BSO), Dr Chidia Maduekwe, says the organisation will rely on members of its 470 groups for on-the-spot information at the polling units.
Maduekwe said this at a news conference to intimate the public and the agents on a technology platform it intended to use to relay information on election days.
The agents, he said, would give a blow-by-blow account of election proceedings to the BSO via an online platform created purposely for the system.
He said the “change agents”, who were innumerable, would be present in all the 120,000 polling units nationwide.
“We have change agents from the BSO who have the electoral right to monitor the elections while we have other agents who are INEC accredited.
“Their reports will guide us; we’ll report to appropriate agencies if there are anomalies. We could have 50 change agents in each polling unit. We have 470 groups and all their members are change agents.
“When the agents call in with a report or complaint, there are several others on ground that can corroborate the story.
“They will communicate with us using codes. For instance, late arrival of INEC materials send code one, late arrival of officials send code two.
“When we get the messages, we know who the change agents are and what polling centre they are at.’’
He urged the agents to remain calm as their devices were already being activated with text messages from the organisation, informing them of what to do.
He said there was a nine-digit PU number above their photographs on the reverse side of their cards which could be used to reach the BSO at anytime.
“The messages are authentic and from the BSO. We are the ones sending the messages; they should not be alarmed and call 08186526218 should any situation arise.
