Election Update: Card Reader problem, late commencement of voting in Orile, Surulere

Accreditation and voting yet to commence at Polling Unit  010  located at Alhaji Davies Street as at 11.08 am. The presiding officer and her team were having problem with the card reader.

Voter turn out was fairly impressive but a voter said he  was hopeful that there would be more voter turn out.

At Polling Unit 009, Onyia/Abata  street, turn out was impressive. Accreditation and voting commenced at 10.00 am.

At Polling Unit 006, Orowunmi street, accreditation and voting commenced at 10.30 am with low voter turnout. They initially had problem with the Card Reader but it was eventually rectified.

At Polling Unit 008, the situation there was chaotic as no police or security personnel was posted to the unit.

They officials were having problem with the Card Reader as well as managing to control the angry voters who had been standing under the sun and complaining about the shoddy arrangement.

An angry voter said: “We have been here since morning and nothing is happening. No police and the security of these election papers is not assured. The Card Reader is not good. The time is 11.08 and nothing has been fixed.”

Meanwhile it was field day for the youths and children who engaged themselves  playing football on the streets and highways.
