Former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s son, Bashir, has shaded the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over a report that the government inherited hardship from the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Bashir who was a supporter of the Tinubu’s government until his father’s name was dropped from the list of ministerial nominees, quoted a now-deleted Daily Trust newspaper report which quoted an Emir begging Nigerians to show understanding with the Tinubu government because the hardship being experienced was inherited from the previous government.

While quoting the report, Bashir quipped: “They will be saying this thing for the next 600 years.”

Bashir’s comment came with an instant backlash from netizens.

On X, @Abdyekeen_Bash said: “You joined them in saying it for the past 8 years and why you stopped saying it was because your father fell out or was edged out, otherwise you would have joined them in saying the trash. Stop presenting yourself and your frustrated father as holier than though.”

@ChimaGabriel31 said: “Before you criticize Tinubu you have to first apologize to Nigerians for being among those who conspired to inflict this pain on Nigerians.”

Patrick35144828 said: “Your father brought him. U are pained because your father was abandoned. Sorry o.”

@SamuelImonide said: “Your voice would have been louder if your father was given that ministerial appointment, so stop projecting your frustration on us.”
