The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has accused the Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, of hiring the thugs that attacked the workers protesting peacefully the mass sack carried out by the governor.
The NLC president said the Kaduna State governor engaged one Hassan Gwaska, a resident of Hanyin Banki in Kaduna State, to procure the thugs that attacked them.
Wabba said they got intelligence that El-Rufai would be unleashing the thugs on them early in the morning.
Wabba said he briefed the State Security Service (SSS), the police and other security agencies of the sinister plot by the Kaduna State governor.
The thugs were not restrained by the security agencies. The Labour leaders were left on their own to ward off the thugs who wielded dangerous weapons.
After surviving the dangerous situation, Wabba then addressed journalists: “Today is a very sad moment in the history of democracy in Nigeria. Early in the morning today, we got credible information that El-Rufai has hired one Alhaji Hassan Gwaska who lives in Hanyin Banki. He is a car dealer, to hire some thugs to come and attack us. I called the DSS headquarters. I called the DIG operations. I also called the state director of SSS. i gave them the information.
“While we were here, they (thugs) came. But we thank God. We have dismantled them. We have chased them away because we have the number. We are not thugs and we are not using thugs. We are using Nigerian workers.”
