The news of the arrest of Nigeria’s former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, and his wife, Beatrice, for alleged conspiracy to harvest the organs of a child, has gone viral on social media, with Nigerians saying that nemesis has caught up with him.
The Specialist Crime Team of the Metropolitan Police in London detained him and his wife, Beatrice, for human trafficking and organ harvesting.
Sky News reported: “Two people have been charged with conspiring to bring a child to the UK in order to harvest organs, the Metropolitan Police said.
“Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu, 55, and Ike Ekweremadu, 60, have been remanded in custody and will appear at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court today.
“Charges were brought against the pair, who are from Nigeria, following an investigation by the Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime team.
“A child has now been safeguarded.
“The investigation was launched after detectives were alerted to potential offences under modern slavery legislation in May 2022, the force said.”
Ike Ekweremadu seems to be having strong battle in his political life going by recent happenings around him.
Recall that he failed to secure the PDP governorship ticket in the last primaries of his party, and would also not be returning as a senator.
In the 2019 election, Ekweremadu was accused of working against the PDP because the presidential candidate of the party for the election, Atiku Abubakar, chose Obi as running mate over him. He, however, claimed he did so because he was not consulted.
Ekweremadu was also criticised yesterday for urging the South-East region not to vote for the presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi in the 2023 presidential election, saying it would be a waste.

Even the MOVEMENT for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) lampooned him over what it terms unguarded and provocative utterances against the former governor of Anambra State.
The arrest in the UK will be the second time Ekweremadu will be having issues in Europe.
He was attacked in Europe sometime in 2021 by a mob suspected to be angry Nigerians while attending a cultural event in Germany.
In the one-minute video that surfaced online, the mob chanted ‘go back’ while trying to deny Ekweremadu entry.
The lawmaker had initially retreated but later turned back towards the entrance of the venue. In reaction, the men furiously dragged Ekweremadu out of the venue, ripping his clothes.
For Nigerian tweeps, it is nemesis time for the embattled three-time senator and former deputy president of the senate.

The Ike Ekweremadu who promised PDP my vote and the votes of all South Easterners might actually be in jail when the election will held in Nigeria. Inside life.
@PeterObiPikin
Mbaka attacked Peter Obi and lost his Adoration Ground. Wike attacked Peter Obi and lost the Primaries. Ike Ekweremadu attacked Peter Obi and got arrested for Organ Trafficking in the UK. This Peter Obi movement has become spiritual.
@ManLikeIcey
Ike Ekweremadu and his wife have been charged with conspiring to bring child to UK to harvest organs, same clown was castigating Peter Obi yesterday, I love that he was caught in UK, he’ll face the law, not every place is as lawless as Nigeria.
@OgbeniDipo
Per allegations, it’s either Ike Ekweremadu, his wife, or one of their children has a medical condition and they brought another person’s child into the UK to harvest their organs and use them. Whatever it is, this is so shocking. The UK doesn’t play with children.
@FS_Yusuf_
This exposition of organ harvesting and human trafficking allegations on Sen Ike Ekweremadu and his wife could possibly open the pandora box to the spate of kidnappings in the east.
@drpenking
Remember how God hardened Pharoah’s heart just so He could use them to show His power? That’s how God allowed Ike Ekweremadu to badmouth Peter Obi so that He’d push him into Poto Poto and show that He has chosen Peter Obi. These are things of the spirit
@ChigozieIAlex
The same Ike Ekweremadu that said voting Peter Obi is like throwing our votes away? No, the man called Peter Obi carries a dangerous grace. Mess with him and be disgraced!
@oluchristty
These people don kill our people finish in the name of making money and politics. Imagine if this one had become a governor, our people would have all been dead.
