Chairman of the Ikere Local Government area OF Ekiti State, Femi Ayodele, has been suspended by the Ekiti State House of Assembly over what they termed ‘unauthorised’ presidential campaign publications for Governor Kayode Fayemi.
Fayemi is rumoured as interested to be either vice presidential candidate or presidential candidate in the 2023 presidential contest. He has not made his ambition public.
Why the lawmakers suspended the LG chairman is not clear, but the decision to suspend him was unanimous by the lawmakers during the assembly’s sitting in Ado-Ekiti on Friday.
The members voted after the Majority Leader, Gboyega Aribisogan, moved the motion which was supported by Tajudeen Akingbolu, representing Ekiti West Constituency I.
Apart from the suspension, the two legislators urged the House to investigate the chairman’s alleged involvement in the unauthorised presidential campaign posters of the governor.
Theysaid the action of the local government chairman was flagrant, hence he should be investigated.
The speaker, Funminiyi Afuye, endorsed the investigation of the local government chairman within one week.
