EFCC nabs lawyer over conversion of client’s N15.7m

A legal practitioner, Bardi Robert, has been nabbed by the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Port Harcourt Zonal Office, over alleged conversion of N15.7 million of his client to himself.

Bardi Robert was apprehended on Wednesday, January 13, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State for allegedly receiving a judgement debt sum from a Rivers State High Court, Port Harcourt to the tune of  N15,712,187.38 on behalf of his client,  Igwe Ugochukwu, and converted same to his personal use.

According to EFCC, the suspect allegedly received the said judgement sum in three tranches of N10,000,000,  N737,187.28  and N4,975,000.00,  respectively. 

His alleged accomplice, one Obinna Friday Egwom, is still at large.

Meanwhile, the anti-graft agency is still investigating the matter and the suspect would be arraigned as soon as investigation is completed.
