The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has discredited claims that its X account (formerly Twitter) had been hacked.
It was speculated that suspected internet fraudsters who threatened to wage cyber warfare against the EFCC hacked the anti-graft agency’s X account.
The alleged fraudsters were said to have accused the agency of disregarding constitutional norms in carrying out its duties.

The website was not functional as of early Thursday. It however went live later in the day.
EFCC’s spokesman, Dele Oyewale, told PUNCH that the glitch was as a result of an update done on the agency’s account.
Oyewale said, “We are updating our records on the account. It was not hacked. It will soon start running.”
