‘Yahoo Singer’ Naira Marley, real name Afeez Fashola, has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The singer is currently being questioned at the EFCC office in Lagos.

It is not yet known why he was arrested, but sources say it may be connected with the singer’s recent social media statement which glorifies cyber criminals popularly called ‘Yahoo boys’.

During a recent Instagram live video, Naira Marley asked Nigerians to pray for internet fraudsters, saying they are the reason money circulates in the country.

He said: “All you guys, all the money in your pockets, all the money you spend, you think it’s the government that is making the money go round?”

His comment drew mixed reactions on social media with many condemning the singer for encouraging fraud while others say he was right.

Naira Marley released the official video of his hit track, ‘Am I A Yahoo Boy’ featuring Zlatan on Thursday.

He is popular for his hit song, ‘It’s a Goal’ which he released in 2017.
