Veteran rapper, Eedris Turayo Abdulkareem Ajenifuja popularly known as Eedris Abdulkareem has offered an insight into why foremost Nigerian playwright and novelist, Wole Soyinka hasn’t been criticising President Bola Tinubu.

According to him, Soyinka isn’t speaking up despite the hardship in the country because of his personal relationship with the incumbent president.

The controversial singer who recently slammed the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye on the same issue in his latest song, made this known in an interview with SRTV.

He went on to lament that professor who is known for his fierce criticisms of the past administration, has been unfairly quiet in the current dispensation.

Speaking during the chat, Eedris said, “He [Wole Soyinka] has been very quiet lately. I know he has a good relationship with Tinubu so we know why.”

Meanwhile, when confronted over his silence in the face of the current hardship in the country last year, Wole Soyinka said it was “too early” to judge President Tinubu’s administration and promised to assess it after a year in office.

The Nobel laureate is, however, yet to make any known criticism a year after the president’s inauguration.
