The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has alleged that a siege has been laid on his hotel apartment by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force,
Wike told Channels Television that as the campaign chairman of his party, it was within his right to monitor the election in Edo. He, however, alleged that the police were denying him such right by preventing him from moving out of his hotel apartment.
He said he received information from the Inspector General of Police telling him to leave the state. According to him, that was strange for the police IG to ask a governor to leave. He insisted that he was going nowhere.
Meanwhile, the PDP national chairman, Uche Secondus, has raised the alarm over threat to the lives of governors of the PDP. He said there are indications that the governors of the PDP are being harassed by security operatives. He said the PDP governors would remain in Edo State so long as the governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are also in Edo.
