Edo State government has pledged to partner with the Mabel Madojiemu to develop athletics talents in the State and Nigeria in general.
Edo State Sports Commission chairman, Dudu Orumen, who was speaking on behalf of the State government during the maiden Princess Mabel Madojiemu Foundation Schools Athletics Competition held at the University of Benin Sports Complex last week, stated that the initiative by the former Nigerian international was worthy of support since it tallies with Edo State’s agenda on youth development.
“This is a competition that will we believe will help the kids grow. Programmes like these are part of what Edo State government is using as a vehicle for youth development. The government will partner with the Mabel Madojiemu Foundation to ensure that the objective with which the competition was established will be achieved,” said Orumen.
Over 20 schools participated in the two-day competition with Happiness Eshiemomoh of Hanna Group schools emerging most valuable athlete in the girls category and Azenokor Liberty of Igueben College emerging the most valuable in the boys category.
