The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has condemned the Inspector General of Police, Abubakar Mohammed Adamu, for ordering him out of Edo State.

Wike, who was monitored from Lagos, spoke on phone that the hotel he was staying had been surrounded by no fewer than 30 Policemen, who came to evict him.

The governor said that the IGP just called him on phone to tell him that he was not needed in Edo State.

According to him, the Police boss did not respect him as a governor, sent by his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to respect it in the ongoing governorship election.

But the governor insisted that he would not leave the state because he came to monitor the election like many others in the state, stressing that he did not break any law.

Meanwhile, the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, Kano State Governor, Abdullai Umar Ganduje and all the executive of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are in Edo State strategizing on the same election, without any Police harassment or intimidation.

It would be recalled that the Kano State governor, Ganduje, had boasted that Wike would be quarantined when he comes to Edo for the election. This was in response to Wike’s accusation that he (Ganduje) was coming to Edo to share dollars.

Besides, the election is going on smoothly in the state as at press time.
