Edo Assembly recalls suspended members, congratulates Monday Okpebholo

The speaker has congratulated the governor-elect, Monday Okpebholo, on his victory at the just concluded governorship election in the state.

Edo State House of Assembly has announced the recall of two lawmakers, Donald Okogbe and Adeh Isibor, earlier suspended.

This comes five months after they were suspended alongside others.

On May 6, the assembly suspended Okogbe (PDP-Akoko-Edo II), Isibor (APC-Esan North-East I) and Bright Iyamu (Orhiomwon South) over alleged plot to impeach the speaker and other principal officers.

But Iyamu was recalled in June, having been found remorseful according to the speaker, Blessing Agbebaku.

At resumption of plenary in Benin on Wednesday, the Speaker said that the house had agreed that the two remaining lawmakers on suspension be recalled.

Meanwhile, the speaker has congratulated the governor-elect, Monday Okpebholo, on his victory at the just concluded governorship election in the state.

Agbebaku said the governor-elect was for Edo people and not for the All Progressives Congress (APC) alone and prayed that sycophants do not mislead him.

While welcoming members from a very long recess, Agbebaku thanked the lawmakers for painstakingly carrying out their jobs to ensure impactful bills and resolutions.

Also, the house has approved 57 sitting days calendar for the second quarter, second session of the eight assembly.
