Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, has relieved his Senior Special Assistant on Internal Security, Mr.Ali Odefa, and over 20 others of their appointment with immediate effect.

The governor’s Principal Secretary, Mr. Clement Nwake, stated in Abakaliki that Ali dropped his own resignation letter to Umahi.

It also stated that over 20 other appointees of the government, mainly at the local government level were also affected.

Those whose appointments were revoked include the coordinator of Onicha West Development Centre, Mr. Ogbonnaya Oti; Edda West, Mr. Okoro Nnachi, many liaison officers and management committee members in various local government areas and Development Centres across the state.

Although Governor Umahi has been having a running battle with some of his appointees including the sacked SA on security, Ali Odefa, it is alleged that the sudden sack followed Ali’s insistence on contesting the office of PDP South East Vice Chairman in the last Saturday ‘zonal congress’ of the party.

The statement directed Odefa and the affected persons to hand over government properties in their possessions to the Secretary to the state government, Prof.Benard Odoh, before the close of work on Monday.
