The All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on all Nigerians to be involved in the fight against the Coronavirus, as they commemorate Easter with family and loved ones.

In its Easter message to Nigerians via its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, the ruling party lamented the hazard the dreaded virus caused every sector of the nation’s economy, stressing that personal and collective responsibility were required to stay safe.

The party also appealed to Nigerians to continue to adhere to the directives on social distancing and other public health protocols aimed at containing the pandemic.

The APC, however, reminded Nigerians of the charge by the World Health Organisation (WHO) Director-General, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, while addressing the March 2020 Extraordinary Summit on COVID-19, that “we must fight the Coronavirus like our lives depend on it, because they do; unite, because we will only get out of the pandemic together and ignite a global movement to ensure this never happens again.”

  While commending the

government’s implementation of palliatives for the Nigerian citizenry, the APC advised individuals and organisations to continue and expand their philanthropic outreach to the elderly, poor and other vulnerable people in the societies.

The party also prayed and thanked the medical, humanitarian, relief, security and other allied personnel in the frontlines of the fight against the Coronavirus. “Together we will defeat the Coronavirus pandemic,” it said.

The APC  wished Christians a happy Easter celebration, which commemorates the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
