Former Man City captain, Richard Dunne has named the club he believes will challenge his former team and Premier League (PL) champions this season.

The Citizens currently lead the way with 28 points, ahead of Liverpool and Arsenal on 27 points each, Tottenham on 26 points and Aston Villa on 25 points after 12 Premier League games.

North London club, Arsenal led the table last season for several weeks but couldn’t hold on, as Man City eventually leapfrogged them to lift the title.

Dunne talking to Betway on the team that will likely push Pep Guardiola’s side this campaign, insisted that Arsenal aren’t strong enough to challenge for the title.

According to the City legend, the Gunners are short in the striking department and have an ongoing goalkeeping problem.

He went on to name Liverpool as the only team that can compete with the reigning PL champions for the title this season.

When asked who Man City’s biggest challengers will be, Dunne said: “City and Liverpool will be up there.

“I am still not sure about Arsenal and if they can compete in all the different competitions. Is their squad big enough?

“People have already spoken about their lack of a centre forward. They have created their own problems in the goalkeeping department, which now seems to be a big issue.

“Tottenham have shown they are just not strong enough with a few injuries. I’m more inclined to go with Liverpool.”

Premier League resumes this weekend after the international break, while Man City will host Liverpool at Etihad in arguably the biggest game of the week, Arsenal have a tricky tie away to fellow London club, Brentford.
