Don’t trust Kalu, Abia group tells Jonathan

A group known as Abia Democratic Alliance, has advised President Goodluck Jonathan not to trust ex- Governor Orji Uzor Kalu, describing him as a political saboteur interested only in his selfish gains.

The group also warned the former Governor to stop parading himself as a member of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as that amounts to impersonation which according to it, is a criminal offense.

National Coordinator of the group, Chief Chuks Ibegbu who spoke on the backdrop of the recent visit by Kalu in the company of Imo ex- Governor Ikedi Ohakim to the National Secretariat of PDP in Abuja where he canvassed support for President Jonathan, said Kalu should not be taken seriously.

Kalu had also noted at the visit that the insurgency in the North-eastern part of the country was aimed at stopping President Jonathan from contesting for 2015 presidential election.

Asked whether the insurgency could make PDP lose the presidential poll, Kalu reportedly boasted: “How can that be when we have people like Peter Odili, myself and other former governors working solidly for the party and the presidency.”

Addressing newsmen yesterday in Umuahia, Ibegbu described Kalu as a self-seeking and unreliable politician whose seeming pro- Jonathan comments were only aimed at achieving a selfish political goal.

He said Kalu’s pretenses and overtures were part of his desperations to return to PDP through the back door, wandering “what a man who quitted and renounced PDP years ago is doing again at the party’s secretariat.”

His words: “The President must not trust Kalu as a dependable political ally or do so at his own peril”, arguing that ” Kalu’s political antecedents have proved him to be a sale-out.

“Kalu has never been sincere. He fishes in troubled waters and all his pretenses are just to deceive those who do not know his antics. Abia was ruined and stagnated for close to a century when he held sway, yet he is busy galavanting around as a democrat.

“For eight years, Abia was run as his personal estate which he milked dry without any identifiable project to be remembered for except godfatherism and mamacracy which he shamelessly bequeathed to the state as a legacy.”

Abia Democratic Alliance furthered argued that Kalu, a tyrant, has no moral grounds to preach support for a democrat like President Jonathan, advising the President not to be deceived by Kalu’s hypocrisies.

“If he thinks he is indeed a political heavy weight which he claims to be, let him revive his moribund PPA and contest for the Presidency so he can be better positioned to implement all the self-acclaimed wise counsels he pretends to have”, the group argued.
