Don’t let conspiracy kill FMC Iddo-Ekiti, group advises FG

Africa Youth Patriotic and Development Mission (AYPDM), a society watchdog, has advised that the federal government should not allow conspiracy to scuttle the good work being done at Federal Medical Centre, Ido-Ekiti, Ekiti State.

 

 

The group in a statement said the transformation that has taken place in in the centre is the type Nigeria needs now to solve its ailing health sector.

 

 

In a statement signed by the Executive Director, Muktar Akoshile and Publicity Secretary, Olubayo Fisayo, Publicity Secretary, the group noted that for the fact that the institute has become a Federal teaching hospital affiliated to Afe Balola University and others is an eloquent testimony that given the right person and enabling environment Nigeria could achieve the needed breakthrough in the health sector.

The group commended Chief Afe Babalo (SAN) and the Chief Medical Director of the institute, Dr. Lawrence Majekodunmi Ayodele , for the task of making the institute a Federal teaching institution.

 

 

The institution now has full accreditation for the entire departments that were having partial accreditation before now and has put up structures including hostels, departments like pathology that has scores of consultants and is already accredited by eight medical departments by both national and West African Post graduate medical colleges to train medical doctors.it has 300 bed spaces.

 

 

“As we congratulate Afe Babalola, SAN, for this epoch making event, more thanks should go to the Chief Medical Director of the Federal Teaching Hospital Dr. Lawrence Majekodunmi Ayodele. It was the unwavering conviction and support of the CMDE extended to that made the success we are all proud of today”, the statement said.

 

 

It expressed concern about subtle move by some elements to turn the apple cart warning that meritocracy should not be sacrificed on the altar of political patronage or individual conviction.

 

 

“It is someone like Dr. Ayodele that we need as a nation especially at this age when men and women committed to excellent service delivery are scarce to come by. So let the detractors desist”, the group said.

 

 

The group said it stood by the developmental project going at the institution.

 

 

“ As a society watchdog, the Africa Youth Patriotic and Development Mission has followed with ardent enthusiasm the development in the Nigeria health sector especially the unprecedented transformation and upgrading of the Federal Medical Centre, Ido-Ekiti, Ekiti State to serve as training Facility for Afe Babalola University Medical students”, the group said.

 

 

Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD is a one of the foremost private universities in Nigeria and is located in Ekiti State. It is owned by a renowned legal luminary, Chief Afe Babalola (SAN).
